Real Madrid star Isco has held talks with Pep Guardiola over a potential summer move to Manchester City, according to Jose Alvarez of El Chiringuito TV. The Spanish midfielder showed his qualities by scoring a hat-trick in Tuesday’s demolition of a Messi-less Argentina as Spain ran out as 6-1 winners.

In his post-match interview, Isco revealed he didn’t feel as though he had the confidence of Zinedine Zidane, telling Marca: “In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs. The matches with the national team give me life. Here, I have the confidence of the coach.”

“I want to show that I am a good player. Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”

Guardiola is said to have wanted the 25-year-old upon his arrival at Manchester City in 2016 and views him as a replacement for David Silva, who turned 32 in January.

Now, Jose Alvarez, a fan favourite journalist covering the Citizens has revealed Guardiola and Isco have spoken, with the City boss offering a key role in his side whilst also the chance to double his current wage. The addition would help trounce any other Premier League clubs midfield options if they didn’t already, and certainly be a huge boost in Guardiola’s hopes to retain the title, provided City avoid any embarrassing slip-ups.
