Football Reacts To Chapecoense Air Tragedy

The world awoke this morning to the tragic news that Brazilian Serie A side, Chapecoense, were involved in a plane crash as they were passing Colombia ahead of their fixture with Atletico Nacional.  The plane was carrying 81 people in total, which included players, coaching staff, and journalists who followed the club and reports suggest there were only a few survivors.

The plane lost contact with ground controllers as it approached Medellin at about 22:15 after the pilot reported an electrical fault. It came down in a mountainous area. At least two of the survivors are footballers. They were confirmed to be defender Alan Ruschel and reserve goalkeeper Jackson Follman.
