Albeit the remaining games of the current Premier League season are yet to be played, it has already been confirmed that Hull City, Middlesbrough, and also, Sunderland will all be relegated to the Championship for the 2017/18 season. However, whilst the teams will be playing in England’s second division, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the club’s respective players will also feature there too. The following takes a look four relegated players who could still be playing in the Premier League next season.

4) Name: Ben Gibson | Club: Middlesbrough FC

Ben Gibson has been in fine form for The Boro this season and also earned himself a call-up to the England National Team earlier in the year. The defender has played all of Middlesbrough’s Premier League fixtures this season and also formed a formidable partnership with Arsenal loanee Calum Chambers. Despite his string of positive performances, it wasn’t enough for The Boro who were ultimately relegated last week. However, his strong season hasn’t gone unnoticed with some Premier League clubs reportedly touted for his services.

Potential Next Club: West Brom; Burnley; Leicester

3) Name: Andrew Robertson | Club: Hull City AFC

If you were to pick any player out of the current Hull City team who could leave the Tigers in the summer, you would most probably select left-back Andrew Robertson. The Scotsman has been a regular first team player since joining Hull City in 2014 and has also featured on multiple occasions for his home country, Scotland. The pacey fullback has been a consistent performer for the club this season and since drawn interest from some of England’s top clubs. Considering the relegation of Hull, it seems inevitable that Robertson will depart the club this summer.

Potential Next Club: Liverpool; Everton

2) Name: Jordan Pickford | Club: Sunderland AFC

The young English goalkeeper has been a bright spark in a dark Sunderland season, earning a lot of respect and acknowledgement from the English media. Featuring for England since his days as an under-16, the Englishman earned himself his first ever call-up to the first team late last year, replacing the injured Tom Heaton. Across the 2016/17 Premier League season, the Englishman has featured on more than 20 occasions whilst also securing 4 clean sheets. Many clubs in the Premier League have been reported to take an interest in Pickford and could try to secure his signature in the summer.

Potential Next Club: Arsenal; Everton; Manchester City; Bournemouth; West Ham

1) Name: Jermain Defoe | Club: Sunderland AFC

If you were a betting man, placing a bet on Jermaine Defoe to leave The Black Cats in the Summer seems to be the safest of them all. Since joining Sunderland in the 2015 Winter Transfer Window, Defoe has looked a player significantly better than all of his comrades. In his two full seasons, the Englishman has netted on 30 occasions, 15 per season. Taking into consideration the relegation of his side, it seems likely that the striker will be able to move to a much better team in the summer, with many Premier League clubs after his signature.

Potential Next Club: West Ham; Bournemouth; West Brom; Crystal Palace
