Everton News Transfer Rumours

According to various reports, Everton have signed Burnley defender Michael Keane for £25million. Keane is set to undergo a medical at Finch Farm in the next 48 hours.

Ronald Koeman has been busy this transfer window; signing Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen and reportedly Malaga forward Sandro Ramírez whilst Henry Onyekuru has been signed and loaned to Belgium side Anderlecht. All signs point to a busy summer at Goodison Park with a number of big departures to follow.

Keane, who is highly rated in England with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool being linked in recent weeks, was an important part of the Burnley backline that kept the Clarets from relegation last season. He started his career at Manchester United in 2011, spending four years at Old Trafford before leaving for first team football at Burnley in 2015. He was instrumental in Burnley’s promotion campaign in 2015/16 as Burnley conceded only 35 goals all season on their way to winning the Sky Bet Championship.

Keane has gone on to make two appearances for the England national team, and with the 2018 World Cup around the corner, a move to Everton only strengthens his claim for a starting spot in Russia. Koeman sees the 24-year-old as a perfect partner for Ashley Williams to solidify his defence and with the Englishman receiving so much praise for his solid performances last season, a move to a bigger club will put him up there among the Premier League’s elite defenders.
