La Liga giants Barcelona have exercised their right to buy-back Spanish forward, Gerard Deulofeu, from Everton. The Spaniard  went on loan to Everton in the 2013-14 season from Barcelona before returning in in a £4.3m permanent deal in 2015.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy as a promising youngster but failed to nail down a first-team spot at Camp Nou, leading to loan spells with Everton and Sevilla before joining the Blues on a permanent deal in the summer of 2015.

“The club have activated their buy-back clause for the Spanish winger who has spent the last three seasons playing for Everton, Sevilla and Milan,” announced the Spanish giants in a club statement on their official website, “In the following days, the terms will be agreed with both Everton and the player. Deulofeu’s contract will run until 30 June 2019.”

Whilst he made a promising start to his time at Goodison Park, he soon found himself not part of Ronald Koeman’s long-term plans and moved on loan to AC Milan last season where he re-found his form. Deulofeu will be Barcelona’s second permanent signing of the summer under Ernesto Valverde.
