Tottenham and England star Dele Alli believes he will have no problems controlling his temper in Russia later this month.

Concerns were raised that Alli may react to opposing players attempting to wind him up in hope of throwing the midfielder off his game, however, the 22-year-old has insisted he has learned from previous mistakes.

Speaking to Sky Sports following England’s 2-1 win over Nigeria, the midfielder revealed: “I’m a big believer that you have to make mistakes to learn from them. I feel I learned from the things I’ve done before, but it’s not something I worry about at all.”

“I feel I’ve got everything under control. That [players winding him up at the World Cup] is not going to be a problem. Obviously, I’ve done some things before and people seem to think that will be a problem, but it’s not.”

Though both Alli and Jesse Lingard started in Saturday’s clash with Nigeria, Southgate may have a selection dilemma ahead of England’s first World Cup fixture with the duo both fighting for a spot in the starting eleven. If Alli fails to control his temper, it may aid Southgate’s decision as to who starts behind Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling in Russia.
