Chelsea star Eden Hazard has rejected a new contract at the club amidst growing interest from Real Madrid, according to his father.

The Belgian has been the Blues’ player of the season so far after recovering from an early season injury and has been linked with Zinedine Zidane’s side on multiple occasions.

Hazard, whose current contract expires in two-and-a-half years, wishes to hold off a new deal at Stamford Bridge in case of a proposal from Spain, according to his father Thierry Hazard.

Speaking to Belgian outlet Le Soir, translated by GiveMeSport, the 26-year-old’s father said: “Eden has refused a contract extension because he sees himself playing at Real Madrid. If the opportunity arises, he wants to be able to accept a proposal from Madrid.”

“But, as I speak to you, there is no contact. Eden is only one of the parties to the contract.”

Though he did not insist contact had been made by Madrid, the quotes from Hazard’s father seem pretty concrete to suggest a move to the back-to-back Champions League winners is a huge possibility for one of the Premier League’s biggest stars.

The news comes after Thibaut Cortouis also revealed just a few weeks back that a return to Spain was in his interests leaving the shot-stopper to reportedly reject a contract extension like fellow Belgian, Hazard.

Antonio Conte won’t welcome the news that two of his best talents are leaving the door open for moves elsewhere as Chelsea sit in third, one point behind Manchester United and sixteen behind Manchester City.
