Chelsea News Transfer Rumours

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes Eden Hazard will still be at the club come next season, but admits it is impossible for him to guarantee the Belgian will still be playing at Stamford Bridge next season.

Hazard’s enjoying his best goalscoring season in England under Antonio Conte, bagging 15, which led him to be nominated for the PFA’s Player Of The Year award. Hazard’s introduction in the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham turned the tie into Chelsea’s favour, getting himself a goal and an assist.

Ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Goodison Park, the Italian revealed he doesn’t think Hazard will leave the club, but he cannot guarantee he won’t:

“I don’t think that this idea to let Hazard leave is in the mind of the club,” said the 47-year-old.

“I think we have to improve the team, to reinforce the team. But you know that, in football, there is also the will of the player.

“I think Eden is very happy to stay in Chelsea, to stay with us and work with us. I can tell this. But the future? I haven’t a crystal ball, no.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane looks to find Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement for the future, and Conte believes anything can happen in football.

“I think everything is possible. Everything is possible in football and not only for Eden but for every single player. Everything is possible. You must understand that there are different wills to compare and then to take the decision.”

“I think that it’s impossible for me to take this responsibility [gaurantee him to stay], not only for Eden but for every single player. In this situation, it’s the club who have the final decision. The club has the final word about this situation. I think it’s right for it to be like this.”
