Antonio Conte has moved a step closer to taking over at Chelsea after the club agreed to him bringing four members of his backroom staff to Stamford Bridge.
The Italian has been in talks with Chelsea for the past few weeks, and a deal is expected to be announced by the end of the month, with Conte taking over at the club in mid-July following the European Championships.
Conte wants his future to be decided and announced before some pre-Euro friendlies take place later this month so that everyone knows what is happening over the next few months.
Federico Pastorello, the Italian agent who brokered their previous meeting in Monaco, was at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday as Chelsea lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Abramovich considers Conte the leading candidate despite his initial reluctance to hire an Italian manager.
Antonio Conte’s proposed move to Chelsea is being held up by his insistence on bringing a huge backroom team with him to Stamford Bridge. The Italy coach is supported by a technical staff of 18 people at present and it is understood he wants at least ten of them to follow him to Chelsea.
Conte wants to bring his two assistants Massimo Carrera and Angelo Alessio along with him to Chelsea. Both of them have been with him since his time at Italian Club, Sienna.
He will also bring his two fitness coaches, Paolo Bertelli and Constantino Coratti along with him to the West London Club.
Antonio Conte will also be bringing Gianluca Conte to Chelsea who’ll play the role of a scout at the Club while he is also expected to bring Long-time Genoa goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli.
