Chelsea News Transfer Rumours

According to Sky Italia, Álvaro Morata is on the verge of a move to Chelsea just weeks after the Spaniard was set to join Manchester United. Real Madrid’s valuation for the centre-forward was too high for the Red Devils, leaving them to make a quick swoop for Chelsea bound Romelu Lukaku.

With Morata still wishing to leave Real Madrid but a move to Manchester United no longer possible, Antonio Conte seems to have found his replacement for Diego Costa, who is surplus to requirements at the West London club.

The reports come from Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano, perhaps Italy’s two best journalists, who both say the deal is nearing completion. It comes just 48 hours after Diego Costa was seen partying in an Atlético Madrid shirt after he was excluded from Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East.

Earlier this week, a move to Italian giants AC Milan was on the cards for Morata, but it now seems the Rossoneri will target Andrea Belotti instead, a player who Antonio Conte was also chasing. With the 24-year-old now joining Chelsea whilst the clubs primary target, Romelu Lukaku, joining Manchester United, an influx of comparisons between the pair and their transfer fees seems pretty likely. Whoever becomes a hit with their new club in the upcoming season, it may leave the opposing club looking rather silly for missing out.
