Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcântara has refused to rule out leaving the club this summer after insisting ‘football is very difficult’.

The midfielder has been linked to former club Barcelona recently and with Andrés Iniesta’s departure to Japanese side Vissel Kobe, the purchase of Thiago would help fill the void left by the 34-year-old.

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus had recently slammed the midfielder, telling SportBild“Thiago has not made the difference in the big games so far.”

“I like him, but he was a shadow of himself. Thiago has disappointed me in recent weeks. I do not know where he is with his head. With these issues, he is not a player for Bayern Munich.”

“If there is an appropriate offer, you can think about it. Especially since Bayern have Thomas Müller, James Rodríguez and Leon Goretzka for the same position “

And now, Thiago has now refused to rule out moving away from Germany in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, via Goal. Despite admitting his attention was solely on the upcoming World Cup, the 27-year-old revealed: “Let’s see. I told you I renewed with Bayern last year, but it’s very complicated. Football is very difficult.”

“I’m very much about enjoying the moment. You don’t have to focus on the future. I’m thinking about the World Cup, I’m living in the present and if a moment comes for you to think about it, I immediately focus on the World Cup.”
