Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he turned down interest from Manchester City and the Chinese Super League in order to stay in Germany during the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang, who scored 40 goals in all competitions last season, was subject to interest from multiple European clubs such as AC Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and of course, Manchester City.

However, the Gabonese star was never interested in a move away from Dortmund, insisting the club ‘is like a family’ to him. In an interview with Téléfoot, the 28-year-old responded to interest from England, saying: “Manchester City? In fact, I’ve never been attracted to the Premier League. This is a personal opinion.”

“I thought about China, which seems normal, but it still lacks professionalism, unfortunately. ’I’m very happy to have stayed in Dortmund. It’s like a family to me.”

Since joining BVB, Aubameyang has scored 93 goals in as little as 135 Bundesliga appearances and has started the 2017/2018 campaign with flying colours, bagging 13 goals in 11 games under Peter Bosz.

With German rivals Bayern Munich’s poor start to the season which ended up with Carlo Ancelotti’s dismissal, Dortmund have a chance to win their ninth league title if they can maintain their incredible start.
