Bournemouth Transfer Rumours

Cherries’ Manager, Eddie Howe has agreed a deal to sign Sunderland Striker, Jermain Defoe, brushing aside competition from West Ham and Crystal Palace, according to Sky reports. Jermaine Defoe spent two and a half seasons at Sunderland, playing 87 games and scoring 34 goals.

Defoe, who spent two and a half seasons at Sunderland, playing 87 games and scoring 34 goals, will join Bournemouth for free due to a relegation clause inserted in his Sunderland contract when he signed from Toronto FC in the winter transfer window of the 2014-2015 season.

Reports suggest that Defoe will earn a staggering £130,000-a-week. Defoe has already spent a successful spell on loan early in his career at Bournemouth where he had scored 18 goals, 12 of which came in 10 consecutive games. Defoe has scored 158 league goals in 468 Premier League appearances.

The 34-year-old was wanted by a host of clubs after scoring 15 goals in the recently concluded season which, unfortunately, could not save Sunderland from Relegation. West Ham, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were among the favourites to land the former Tottenham striker. Reports suggest that West Ham had made enquiries in the January transfer window as well but recently cooled off their interest.

The deal looks set to be completed within the next few days following the Medical and personal negotiations.
