Brian Little is set to be appointed to the Villa board according to BBC Radio West Midlands Sport.
Little, 62, who both played and managed the Claret and Blues is saw as a legend at the club and this appointment could add a bit of happiness to the Villa fans, who haven’t really had much to shout about at all this season. The majority of Villa fans will be happy that they have ‘one of their own’ on the board, and not just one of their own, a cult hero.
Geordie born Little played 247 games in 10 years for the Birmingham based side scoring on average a goal every four matches. At Villa Little won the Third Division and the League Cup twice. Then in 1994, 14 years after departing Villa as a player, Little would be appointed their manager after the departure of Ron Atkinson. In the 1995-1996 season he would win his first and last managerial trophy at Villa, the League Cup, where his Villa side would go on to beat Leeds 3-0. The 1995-1996 League Cup is also the last major trophy that Villa have won.
A few years ago the Villa official website did a series on their top 50 greatest ever players – to which Little would be ranked the 25th greatest player in Villa history by the fans.
Former Manchester City Chairman David Bernstein is also set to be appointed to the Aston Villa board.
