Aston Villa hope to make Bolton wonderkid Zach Clough their first signing of the summer transfer window, as they aim to get back to the Premier League in their first reply.

Clough, 20, has been a bright spark in a very inconsistent Bolton side this season, and Villa hope to get him on the cheap in the summer according to the Daily Mail. Clough has scored 4 times this season in the 15 matches he’s played, but has still attracted interest from other Championship and Premier League teams as he is seen as one for the future.

Villa boss Remi Garde should have a very busy summer window, with many incomings and many departures as Villa hope to cut down the wage budget, and Clough is saw as an ideal target for Garde as he hopes to create a ‘young and hungry’ Villa side which is willing to compete in the Championship.

I generally believe Clough will be a good signing for the Villa in the Championship, as he’s a very skilful talent and if he reaches his potential, a future England International. Villa may also get him on the cheap as it was announced over a month ago that Bolton were in a staggering 172m pound debt. Nonetheless, Villa must act fast if they want to get their man, as other teams will be vying for his signature.
