Arsène Wenger Reveals He Went To Kylian Mbappé’s House To Convince Him To Join Arsenal

Arsène Wenger is back at it again with the ‘I nearly signed him’ stories and this time, Kylian Mbappé is the subject of the Frenchman’s tales. Wenger, who currently sits in 6th place with Arsenal as Manchester United make the trip to the Emirates this weekend.

The 67-year-old has revealed he travelled to teenage sensation Kylian Mbappé’s house last year in an attempt to prise him from AS Monaco. Mbappé, who is regularly compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, has set the world alight with a stunning breakthrough season with the French side, bagging 24 goals in 39 appearances for Les Monégasques. 

“The player will tell you that I was at his home last year to try to get him here. Because he was at the end of his contract, however, Monaco managed to keep him and the decision was very, very tight.” 

“But I could understand it as well because he was educated there and at the end decided to stay there.”

The Arsenal boss was also asked if he could land the French youngster if he was to try again, to which Wenger replied:

“I don’t know that is down to him. But today, he will decide where he goes, because he can say Real Madrid maybe, Barcelona maybe, Arsenal, Manchester. He can go where he wants.”
