Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has revealed that he will be leaving the club on the 30th of June following the expiration of his contract. The Frenchman heavily struggled across his tenure at the club after agreeing to join in the summer of 2013 on a free deal.

However, many Arsenal fans have celebrated his minimal career, including his positive performance in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, a four-goal thriller against Benfica in the Emirates Cup, and his “unsung hero” performance in the 2014 FA Cup Final.

The forward went out on loan on four different occasions during his time with the Gunners but does not blame Arsène Wenger for not playing him, but actually the injuries he suffered throughout his career.

In a revealing interview with L’Equipe, the Frenchman went on to say that;

“The adventure ends, I maybe did not always do what was necessary to impose myself. But Wenger is a great manager and he taught me a lot.”

“There is this frustration about not knowing what the source of my pain was, I came back in January, with a fitness trainer, and I was able to play again for Arsenal’s reserves.”

“It was very hard when I was injured. You feel so mentally alone.”
