The PFA’s 2016/17 shortlists for Players’ Player & Young Player of the Year Awards have been released this morning. Chelsea stars Eden Hazard, who won the award in his title winning season in 2014/2015, and N’Golo Kanté, who was a favourite to win last season, are the most popular names within the six-man shortlist to pick up the award, as Antonio Conte’s Chelsea march on towards the Premier League trophy.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez all join the Chelsea duo, having enjoyed tremendous goal-scoring seasons themselves. Leading the race for the golden boot is Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, who tops the list with 23 goals. 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic is included in his first season in England, in which he has scored 17 goals.

Dele Alli’s exclusion came as a surprise to some. The 20-year-old has been involved in more league goals (21) than any other U21 player in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season, bagging 16 goals and 5 assists. Another surprise was Liverpool’s Sadio Mané missing out. The Senegalese man has been a shining light for Liverpool this season and in his absence, Jürgen Klopp’s side has struggled.

Dele Alli, however, did make the Young Player of the Year shortlist, along with Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane. The shortlist was also announced this morning. You can see who else joined the Tottenham duo below:
