It was just over a year ago that West Brom boss Tony Pulis claimed then on-loan Serge Gnabry was not “at the level” for the Baggies. After making a single Premier League appearance for Albion – off the bench in a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in August – he was recalled from his loan in January and was allowed to leave Arsenal for Werder Bremen in the Summer.
However, with 4 goals in 9 games for Die Grün-Weißen this season; Gnabry has been a revelation in the Bundesliga. A revelation who won his first senior cap in their recent World Cup qualifier against San Marino. The winger scored a hat trick on his debut in an 8-0 win.
His form has not gone unnoticed. German giants Bayern Munich are said to be interested in acquiring his talents and Gnabry himself has said he believes himself to be ready for a potential move at the end of this season. “I could definitely see myself at Bayern Munich,” Gnabry told the media, “I am the kind of player who likes a challenge.”
He also won the praise of compatriot and Bayern star Jerome Boateng. The centre back said about Gnabry; “He has developed superbly, he is an amazing player, I think he has what it takes to play for Bayern. I hope he will stay healthy, he has the potential to achieve anything.” The quotes will not go down well with Arsenal fans, who were vocal in their disappointment to see a talented player leave.
