Barcelona Willing To Allow Arda Turan To Leave As Arsenal Interest Increases

It has been widely reported that Barcelona will allow Arda Turan to leave the club after just 18 appearances for the Spanish giants. Turan, 29, moved to Barcelona in a £35m deal, but could not make an appearance for the club until January due to imposed sanctions on Barcelona by FIFA. The Turkish midfielder didn’t have the greatest of Euro’s either, as he crashed out in the group stage, scoring no goals or assists.
Spanish outlet SPORT say Arsenal are one of the clubs chasing Arda Turan’s signature, which would see him join summer signing Granit Xhaka and perhaps make up for the club missing out on Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy. However, Arsene Wenger should act fast as Dortmund and Fenerbahce are also after the Barcelona man.
Barcelona recently triggered the release clause in Villarreal’s Denis Suarez which saw the Spanish midfielder rejoin the Catalonian giants, damaging the chances of Arda Turan’s playing time, making a switch to the Gunners even more likely.
Arsene Wenger guided the North London side to a second-place finish this season, guaranteeing Champions League for yet another season at the Emirates, but some fans feel the title was there for the taking, especially after Arsenal did the double over the Premier League champions Leicester last season, including Danny Welbeck’s last gasp winner.
Would the addition of Arda Turan strengthen Arsenal’s title push for the upcoming season or do the Gunners need to strengthen in a different position?
