Bitter news has broke for Arsenal fans this evening as Alexis Sanchez suffers an injury during the International Break. The Arsenal forward will be evaluated by the Chile squads medical staff after a tear on his calf. Chile’s National Football Association released a statement which read “The medical team of the Chilean national team can confirm Alexis Sánchez has a low grade muscle tear. The player will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation, ahead of Chile’s match against Uruguay.”
This is a major blow for Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side as they face a trip to Old Trafford on the 19th of November. Alexis Sanchez will be a miss as his 6 league goals from 10 games in a new striker position have been vital for Arsenal’s terrific season. Sanchez will also be a huge miss for Chile as they look to face Uruguay next Tuesday, a win will of course bolster their chances of qualification for the 2018 Russia World Cup.
