Gary Neville: Arsenal Are A Bigger Club Than Chelsea

Ex-Manchester United, now Sky Sports’ pundit Gary Neville believes that Arsenal are still a much bigger club than Chelsea – despite the Gunners not being nearly as consistent as The Blues this season and currently sit 18 points behind them so far this season.
However, Neville admits Chelsea are still one of the Premier League’s powerhouses when it comes to financial income and the ability to sign players for millions of pounds but the former United captain also believes that certain players should be favouring moves to The Emirates stadium rather than Stamford Bridge.
“This is a better club than Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports after the 2-2 draw against Manchester City yesterday afternoon. “Why wouldn’t you want to come and play here? Look at this stadium – it’s unbelievable – Chelsea are a fantastic club but you’ve got to say, even Chelsea fans wouldn’t argue that Arsenal are a bigger club than them – Arsenal are a bigger club than Chelsea. They are, it’s a fact.”
In terms of major honours, you’d have to agree with Neville. Arsenal have won 16 more trophies than Chelsea (44-28) – but are major honours enough these days to judge whether a club is classed as ‘big’ or not?
This season, Chelsea have definitely been the better footballing side both in terms of management, having players playing consistently well and playing some of the most attractive football in the league.
Trophy cabinets would suggest that Arsenal are the superior club, but is there more to the story than that?
