Justin Kluivert is expected to join AS Roma after agreeing a five-year deal with the Italian club, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old has been heavily linked to Manchester United since revealing he wanted to leave Ajax after they reportedly tried to sell his services to Tottenham without informing him first.

Roma’s Director of Football Monchi is said to have met with Kluivert’s agent, Mino Raiola, to find an agreement for the player. It was a successful meeting, according to Romano, with a five-year contract thought to be agreed and negotiations between Ajax and Roma are the last stage in Kluivert’s possible move to Serie A.

Kluivert had previously admitted his dream club would be Barcelona to follow in the footsteps of his father, perhaps putting Manchester United and Tottenham off the thought of signing him young, only for him to target another move if and when interest from La Liga arrived.

Despite the reported imminent move to Roma, Kluivert, son of Patrick Kluivert, revealed earlier this week it’s possible he could still stay at Ajax next season but hinted at an ‘exciting career move’, telling Fox Sports“There are exciting moments coming for me. Let’s see what they’re going to be.”

“In the end, it’s my decision. I’m not a hundred per cent convinced yet. I have to think things through. To stay at Ajax is definitely an option. It certainly is.”
